MSNBC News: Trump’s attack on Ruby Freeman becomes worse
For reasons that are yet unclear, Donald Trump utilized his social media platform to start a fresh onslaught against a long-standing adversary yesterday night about midnight. It all began with this regrettable letter:
In a subsequent article, the former president accused Freeman of electoral fraud. In a further letter, the Republican wondered, “What will the Great State of Georgia do with the Ruby Freeman MESS?” The crimes and deceit of the Radical Left monsters, according to Trump, “who want to see America perish,” are what he is up against.
Both references were made to “suitcases” containing votes that Trump thinks Freeman opened as part of the crime that only existed in his mind.
At case anybody needs a reminder, the misery for a clerical worker in a Georgia county election office and her mother started not long after the 2020 elections. Shaye Moss and her mother Freeman, who had accepted a temporary job assisting count votes, were held directly and personally accountable by Trump and some of his fervent supporters for putting phony ballots in Georgia’s election results.
In reality, deranged Republicans claimed to have video evidence of Moss and Freeman doing their duties as proof. Conspiracy theorists mistook what they claimed to be “suitcases” of fake votes for regular cartons that were used locally to transfer genuine ballots.
Republicans insisted that the photographs demonstrated election fraud, regardless of the fact that the film revealed nothing illegal or suspicious. Nevertheless, it gained popularity in conservative media and far-right groups. Even at one of his post-victory campaign rallies, Trump displayed it on the screen. The two Black ladies were specifically targeted by the former president many times, which prompted Republican extremists to make death threats against them and visit their homes.
Freeman, a retired woman who opened a small shop selling fashion accessories, was compelled to leave her home on the FBI’s advise for her own protection, shut down her company, and relocate to a secret place.
These innocent ladies were scared as a result of a foolish fabrication. Six months ago, the public had the opportunity to see their sworn evidence at the committee’s broadcast hearings on January 6, in which they revealed their experiences in gruesome detail.
I have no place where I feel secure. “Nowhere,” Freeman affirmed in court.
“Do you understand what it’s like to be the focus of the US president? Every American is meant to be represented by the president of the United States. Not to choose one,” Freeman said. “He went after me. a loyal citizen of the United States who volunteered to assist Fulton County in conducting an election in the midst of a pandemic.
This happened six months ago. Overnight, Trump made the decision to restart the same pointless argument with the same deserving lady.
Even worse, his own Justice Department has already informed the former president that his claims are untrue, in addition to reporters and fact-checkers.
Richard Donoghue, a former acting deputy attorney general, notified Trump personally that the allegations had been investigated and were unfounded, as Rachel mentioned on the program a few months ago.
In response to a discussion in which the former president alluded to a hypothetical bag full of forged votes, Donoghue informed Trump, "No, sir, there is no luggage. You may keep returning to that video. There is no case here. They transported the ballots in a wheeled container. And that is exactly how they transferred the votes across the building. There is absolutely nothing strange about it.
In other words, Trump was informed of the facts, yet he still elected to spread falsehoods that endangered uninvolved poll workers. Last night, the Republican made the same choice.
